The company are industry leaders in Accident Reconstruction and one of premier forensic engineering and litigation/claims consulting firms in California. They are mid-sized with just under 50 consultants and have over 100 years of combined litigation consulting experience and offices across the Los Angeles and San Diego areas.
They specialize in investigating accidents in the issues of cars, trucks, motorcycles, bicycles, and pedestrian collisions, with an expert depth of knowledge in electronic vehicle data, safety systems, vehicle dynamics, component design, head protection, injury biomechanics, and more.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth forensic biomechanical investigations to determine the causes and mechanisms of injury in various cases including automobile accidents, falls, product defects, and workplace injuries.
- Expert Testimony: Provide expert testimony in court or arbitration hearings related to accident reconstruction, offering clear and concise explanations of findings to non-technical audiences.
- Analyze accident reconstructions, injury causation, and the biomechanics of injury mechanisms using sophisticated tools and modeling techniques.
- Prepare detailed reports and deliver expert testimony in legal proceedings, including depositions and court trials.
- Collaborate with attorneys, insurance companies, and other experts in developing case strategies and presenting complex biomechanical data in an understandable manner.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers and support staff, offering guidance and expertise.
- Stay updated with the latest developments in biomechanics, injury science, and forensic engineering.
- Assist in the preparation of visual aids, animations, and presentations for trial support.
Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Biomechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in forensic biomechanics, injury analysis, or a closely related field. Experience in a consulting or expert testimony role is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of accident reconstruction, injury biomechanics, and human body mechanics.
- Proven ability to conduct independent investigations and produce clear, concise, and defensible technical reports.
- Experience with biomechanical modeling and simulation software.
- Expertise in using engineering principles to assess human injury mechanisms.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to present complex technical data in a clear and persuasive manner.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills
- Professional Engineer (PE) preferred but not required.
- Experience with 3D crash reconstruction software (e.g., PC-Crash, HVE, or similar).
- Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy as it relates to injury biomechanics.
