We are seeking a skilled and motivated Forensic Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team in Miami.

Job Overview:

As a Forensic Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for investigating structural failures, damages, and design deficiencies across a range of residential, commercial, and industrial properties. Your expertise will help identify the causes of structural issues and provide expert testimony in legal and insurance matters. You will be working with a team of professionals to deliver clear, concise, and well-supported reports, making you a key player in the success of our investigations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct forensic investigations of structural failures, damage, and performance-related issues for a variety of projects, including buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure.
  • Analyze structural systems and assess damage due to various causes, including natural disasters, accidents, construction defects, or material failures.
  • Prepare detailed written reports, including findings, conclusions, and recommendations, with a focus on clarity and technical accuracy.
  • Provide expert testimony in court, depositions, and arbitration hearings as needed.
  • Collaborate with insurance adjusters, attorneys, and other stakeholders to support claims and legal actions.
  • Provide technical advice on risk mitigation and building code compliance.
  • Assist with designing and implementing remediation and repair strategies.
  • Stay up-to-date with current industry standards, building codes, and structural engineering best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida or ability to obtain it within a reasonable timeframe.
  • 5+ years of experience in structural engineering, with at least 3 years in forensic engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, engineering principles, and materials.
  • Experience in analyzing and investigating structural failures, including experience with damage caused by hurricanes, flooding, or other environmental factors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Structural Analysis Software) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with litigation support and providing expert testimony.
  • Familiarity with the Miami-Dade County building codes and Florida-specific regulations.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
