They work on a variety of projects, from residential and commercial buildings to industrial structures and are looking for a skilled and motivated Structural Engineer to join their team in Raleigh, NC.

Job Description:

As a Forensic Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for investigating and analyzing structural failures, defects, and damages in buildings and other structures. You will provide expert evaluations, design solutions, and detailed reports to help resolve insurance claims, litigation, and loss assessments. The role requires a strong understanding of structural engineering principles and the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate structural failures, roof damages, including damage assessment and analysis of causes and contributing factors.
  • Perform detailed inspections and evaluations of buildings, bridges, and other structures.
  • Conduct structural analysis, including reviewing building plans, blueprints, and other technical documents.
  • Develop comprehensive forensic reports and expert opinions on structural integrity.
  • Work closely with clients, insurance companies, and legal teams to provide accurate and reliable findings.
  • Provide expert testimony in legal proceedings, if required.
  • Collaborate with other engineering professionals, architects, and contractors to develop remediation plans.
  • Stay current with industry trends, codes, and standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina, or the ability to obtain licensure within a specified time frame.
  • 5+ years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on forensic investigations or failure analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of structural materials, design principles, and building codes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to write detailed technical reports and provide expert testimony.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • Experience with forensic investigations in insurance claims or litigation.
  • Knowledge of construction defect analysis and remediation strategies.
